The mastery goal model is based on the assumption that you have chosen an activity that you want or are required to have a qualitative relationship with. The activity could be complying with a procedure, conducting a performance review or leading meetings, to name a few examples.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How well you master an activity has a decisive impact on the results you achieve, but many people are naive to this realization and do not do what is necessary to master an activity at a level that produces the desired results.<\/p>

A common misconception is that we can expect good results just because we \"understand\" how an activity should be carried out. The effect of just having understood is modest and quickly approaches zero if the understanding is not repeated or followed up with action.<\/p>

The model claims that it is only when you have taken active ownership and understand how to use an activity where you are (narrative understanding) and actually start with regular use that you can become really good if you decide to.<\/p>
